AISJ offers an American curriculum, enriched with a diversity of international courses and programs.
26 credits are required for graduation. Students will not be given High School credit for any courses taken before High School. These requirements apply to all subsequent classes.
Students may receive .5 credit for semester courses and 1 credit for full year courses. The following minimum number of credits must be earned in each course area:

Students planning to attend South African universities need to be aware of the following:
All students need to apply for a Matriculation Exemption Certificate from the South African Board of Education. This is done with the assistance of the High School Counsellor
If possible, students should begin planning their course of study in Grade 10, taking the appropriate courses in Mathematics and Science in order to meet South African universities’ requirements
Students planning to apply to study Medicine, Pure Sciences or Engineering should complete the full IB Diploma Program
Students planning to study in other areas, e.g. Humanities or Commerce, do not need to complete the full IB Diploma.
