Middle School

Activities and Sports

At AISJ we are excited to offer our Middle School students a very diverse and rich activities program.  We encourage students to become involved in after school activities so that they can realize their strengths and talents that lie outside of the classroom.  In many situations students gain confidence by being involved in an activity and this has positive effects that overflow into the classroom and beyond.

In order to participate in a sport or activity students must be present at the first practice/session as outlined in the calendar.  The Middle School News (daily announcements) will communicate what sports and activities are happening and where they will take place.

There are many sports and activities that students have to choose from, the emphasis being on choose, you can’t do it all.  In order to support all programs some activities have to run on the same day. Students need to check the calendar carefully before deciding what activity to participate in.  If two activities occur on the same day students may only participate in one of them.  Students need to choose carefully because they are required to complete the entire session of the activity that they have chosen to join.  If a student has more than two unexcused absences from an activity they will no longer be able to participate in that activity.

Students participating in a sport or activity have the following responsibilities:

  • Make choices based on activity schedule
  • Commit to activity & follow through on commitment
  • Attend all sessions (notify sponsor/coach if unable to attend)
  • Participate fully
  • Demonstrate appropriate sportsmanship at all times
  • Have fun

Eagle Award
The Eagle Award will be awarded to one individual in each of the following sports: girls basketball, boys basketball, girls soccer, boys soccer, swimming, girls volleyball, and boys volleyball.  The recipient of the Eagle Award will be an individual who is:  Motivated, coachable, a team player and leads by example.

This individual will also have fulfilled the following criteria:

  • Punctual and has no unexcused absences
  • Participated to the best of their ability
  • Demonstrated school spirit and sportsmanship by encouraging and supporting others in the activity
  • Excelled or showed significant growth by the end of the activity
On Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday activities begin at 3:10 pm.  Students are expected to be at their activity location, dressed appropriately, and ready to participate.  On Wednesdays, activities begin at 1:50 pm.  Activities run until the late bus, the schedule is below
