Serving the needs of students in Grades 6-12, the goal of the Quinlan Library is to create a welcoming environment that invites students to become efficient seekers of information and life-long lovers of reading. With a growing collection of over 13,000 volumes, 1,200 videos/DVD's, 55 periodical subscriptions and access to several online databases, the library plays an important role in the middle and high school program at AISJ.

The goal of the Quinlan Library at the American International School of Johannesburg is to ensure that students and faculty are effective, self-reliant, and critical users of ideas and information enabling them to be literate life-long learners. This goal is accomplished by the library staff, in collaboration with the school community:

• by providing instruction to foster competence in acquiring and using information and ideas, and in evaluating information resources.
• by stimulating interest in reading and appreciation of literature through group instruction and individual guidance.
• by working with other educators to design and carry out learning experiences to support the curriculum and to meet the needs of individual students.

 
 
• Monday to Thursday 7:00am-4:45pm
• Friday 7:00am-2:30pm
• 5 books for 3 weeks
• 10 books for school projects and IB Extended Essays
