Dear Parents,

Today was a very special day here at AISJ with our schoolwide celebration of Arts Fest and Heritage Day. Children, teachers and parent volunteers showed up for school in traditional dress or the colors of the South African flag. We gathered as a community for a beautiful opening ceremony with music by the Mzansi Youth Choir. Students then attended theater performances and participated in a range of arts activities throughout the day. We closed the day's events with another all school assembly in which high school and middle school students joined the Mzansi Youth Choir for a final performance.

I'd like to thank our music and art teachers, Narina van Niekerk, Nicola Fader, Sean Fietje and Donna Jepsen-Minyard for all of their hard work in planning this event, as well as learning support teacher, Lee Chadderton, for planning our Heritage Day events. I'd also like to thank the seventeen parents who volunteered to support the day's activities.

Heritage Day Holiday:

Please note that we will have school next Monday, September 23rd. Our Heritage Day holiday will be this Tuesday, September 24th. There will be no school on this day.

Lost and Found:

We are five weeks into the school year and our lost and found tables are already covered with lost items. Please encourage your children to look for lost items here at school. Also, please label their personal items with permanent marker. When missing items end up in the office, we can deliver them directly to their owners if the items are labelled.

Open House Survey:

We would like to gather parent feedback regarding Open House so that we are sure that this event is meeting your needs. Whether or not you attended the event, please take a few moments to complete this survey by the end of the day on Thursday, September 27th. Thanks in advance for your feedback.
