Dear Pretoria Campus Parents,
Thank you to our Parent Association and parent volunteers for organizing a wonderful movie night!
Please be reminded to sign up for Parent/Student/Teacher Learning Conferences.
From our Parent Association Service Learning Parent Partner: Desislava Nikolova:
Service Learning, one of AISJ's four educational pillars is once again holding the annual Action Day on October 5th! As in previous years, Grades 2 and 5, as well as MS athletes participating in soccer and basketball CCAs, will be invited to take part in the day's events. However, all students (EC - Grade 8) interested in joining are welcome to sign up on PowerSchool; registration is now open.
Action Day offers AISJ students an opportunity to participate in various teacher-led workshops geared towards strengthening the school's relationship with our partners (local schools, animal shelter, home for the elderly, etc.). The various products made in those workshops will be donated to our partners in an effort to demonstrate our continued commitment and support. Additionally, friendly matches of soccer and basketball between the AISJ students and attending partners will offer opportunities for direct interactions and further relationship building. Action Day will conclude with a lunch for our students and partners in attendance.

SERVICE LEARNING ACTION DAY: SATURDAY, OCTOBER 5 from 8:00 AM - Noon
If your child/children would like to join the workshops or participate in the sport activities during Service Learning Action Day on Saturday, October 5, please give permission for this on Powerschool and this function is currently active. Please provide permission in order for us to best prepare resources for this event. Permission will close Wednesday, October 2.
On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday morning, the Elementary Student Council will be selling topes to support the Sunflower Fund. The Sunflower Fund fights blood diseases like Leukemia through the recruitment of stem cell donors and maintaining a registry of potential donors committed to helping anyone in need of a life-saving stem cell transplant. We will be selling topes for R30 each to support the efforts of the Sunflower Fund Organization. Thank you for your support and donations.
From our Pretoria PA President Stephanie Sexton:
The attachment includes the September PA meeting minutes.
Room Parents had a great meeting this past week and we look forward to having grade level groups established going forward.
Lots of information going out about Service Learning Day and International Day. If you missed something or are confused, send us an email, WhatsApp, or FB message and we'll do our best to help you out.
Watch for big changes at the Tuk Shop! We will be selling a greater variety of food and drinks and hope to make it a more comfortable space to lounge.
Also, watch for a survey to be distributed in the next few weeks. We are looking for ideas to make our community even better!
"Friendship, Conflict and Resolution"
On Friday, September 27, a workshop for all Pretoria parents will be offered by Ms. Paige Clark and will address the difference in regular conflict between friends and bullying. This workshop will reinforce school and home connections so together we help our students.
