There has been a lot of excitement this week as our last piece of playground equipment finally opened. It has been wonderful to see the elementary students excited about climbing and sliding and having so much fun together. Thanks to our Grade 3 students for doing a fantastic job yesterday at assembly. It was also great to see parents enjoying the kindergarten writing celebration this morning.
Next week are our Parent/Teacher Conferences. Thanks to all of you who have already made appointments through our online system. A reminder that there is no school for students on Thursday, although we will have child care available for parents during their 20 minutes conference in the media centre for parents who are unable to arrange child care. We look forward to welcoming you all next week.
Chris Hani Hospital Toy Drive
The Student Council is asking students to bring in gifts for the Chris Hani Hospital visit on November 19th. The toys that are donated over the coming weeks will be delivered to the hospital by our Student Council. Please indicate whether the gift is for a girl or a boy. Gifts can be delivered to the media centre over the coming weeks.
Maker Day- Saturday, November 12
We are holding our 2nd annual Family Maker Day on Saturday, November 12th from 9am-12pm in the Kgoro. So far we have 107 students signed up for this event and very limited spaces left. The Maker Day is an event held to promote awareness of science, technology, engineering, and design-thinking activities. Through various challenges, students are encouraged to problem-solve, innovate, tinker and test out their ideas through various stations including robotics, electronics, circuit making, coding, e-textiles, Rube Goldberg machines and much more! The event is flexible in nature so students can choose what and how they would like to spend the morning. As this is a family event, parents are encouraged to be active participants in the activities and work with your child. Please note that this is not a “drop-off” event and parents must supervise their children. The event is open to all students from Grades PK-8. There are limited number of spots (and fills up quickly) and parents must register through this link in order to attend: https://goo.gl/forms/Df1vsHiGEdvNCfRd2. The Tuck Shop will be open to purchase drinks and snacks.
