Principal's Weekly Update - January 13, 2017
Posted 13-01-2017 03:31PM

Dear Parents,

Welcome back and Happy New Year!! I hope you all enjoyed a relaxing holiday, whether you stayed in South Africa or travelled abroad. We have had a calm and purposeful first week back and it has been great to hear all the holiday stories from your children as they have been bouncing back into the classrooms of the Elementary School.

On Wednesday, we welcomed 14 new students to our school. It is always exciting to have new families in our community and we look forward to getting to know you more as the second semester progresses. On behalf of the Elementary School, I would like to extend a warm welcome to all those who are new to AISJ.

Sign Up for Alerts

Every Friday, I write this weekly update to the community. The ES Office sends it out as an Alert (it is not emailed out). The only way parents can receive this Alert is if they have checked the correct box in their option settings through their website accounts. There are detailed instructions on how to sign up for Alerts on the ES Portal. Today we are sending this update via email so new families have a chance to read it. From next Friday onwards, we will only be sending this as an Alert.

Parent Workshop with Reading Consultant- Kathy Collins

In the month of January, we have a world renowned reading consultant coming to AISJ to work with the elementary faculty. She will be doing a parent workshop titled ‘Ideas to support your child at home to become avid, engaged readers’. I would encourage all parents to attend as Kathy is an engaging and energetic presenter, who is well researched and versed in the aspects of reading development for elementary aged children.
