Band & Choir Concert

The AISJ Pretoria Bands and Choir Concert will begin with our Grade 5 students and Beginning Band Middle School students, most of whom have just begun learning their instruments in August. They have made remarkable progress and will share with you several Band arrangements in our upcoming Band & Choir Concert on Friday, the 4th of May starting at 3:10 p.m. in the Lapa. Our Intermediate Band students have been playing their instruments for two, three or more years and have advanced to complex arrangements challenging them to further develop their ability to express dynamics, demonstrate various articulations and balance in ensemble playing. The Choir students have been working this year on articulation and tone as well as singing songs in a variety of styles. We will celebrate both our Choir and Band students after the concert with a reception. We hope to see you there!

News from our Counselor

Donation Drive Complete!

Thank you parents for all your generous donations during our drive for our partners and other worthy organizations in the area!

On Tuesday this week, after sorting, cleaning and getting packaged for donation (the PA - that’s you! - bought bins so Meetse donations could be appropriately stored and organized for kid use) we delivered to Meetse a bin of dinosaur figures; a bin of animal figures; two wooden train sets and accessories; a large box of LEGO Duplo; three small boxes of regular LEGO; a kitchen set and accessories; three bins of cars; three bins of dress up dolls; a box of Kinex building toys; colouring books; picture books; a LEGO table and two chairs; 27 twelve piece puzzles in bags and art supplies for a mural in Grade R (both purchased by the PA); puzzles and board games to join the rugs and bean bags for the library and the bird netting and trees the Grade 3 brought to the Meetse on the 13th and purchased by the PA.  The teachers were so pleased and the reaction from the kids was simply a very audible "Wow!"

Then we took to the road!  Thanks to Mr. George and Mr. Philip for being our driver and security and Scott Bennett for coming along as we we took five large boxes of clothes, a huge box of shoes and other items to Mercy House for Refugees in the Bez Valley.

After that, we gave four bags of washed and dried stuffed animals, baby clothes and other play items to Botshabello to be delivered to crèches in the Olivehoutenbosch area through their crèche teacher training program, Uplift Ed.  The video on the website about this important program is worth a watch.

Thank you again for your participation in this drive, and in the PA's programs which support the work of these wonderful partners!
