Parent Update Friday, May 25
Posted 25-05-2018 09:32AM

Good morning Pretoria Campus Parents,

I am sure that if you had the pleasure of attending Kokonut Island last weekend you will agree with me about what a spectacular success it was. Congratulations go to all of our fabulous performers and also to the adult team who worked so enthusiastically with them; Ms Claudia, Ms Danelle, and Ms Habeck. The significant contributions of our Art teachers Ms Dingelstad and Ms Louise, and their committed ASA students, must also be acknowledged. The set was stunning.

A highlight of this working week was our Service Learning Celebration, led so well by Ms Marie, Mr Nate and Ms Nozizwe in partnership with our K-12 Service Learning Coordinator Ms Tara Barton.  It was satisfying to celebrate so many service achievements and to enjoy a morning of totally varied workshops on this theme.

Tonight we are excited to celebrate our Grade 8 Promotions Ceremony during which we shall recognize and celebrate Pretoria’s ‘oldest’ student group as they prepare for the next stage of their academic adventure.

Grade 8 Carnival

The third annual 8th grade Cardboard Carnival will take on Tuesday, June 5. As in year’s past, the 8th graders will create and run carnival style games. This is the 8th graders culminating service learning project. Students from all of our grade levels are encouraged to attend and purchase tickets to play the games. If you win a game you receive a tasty treat. Any student who spends at least R50 on tickets will be guaranteed at least one treat. All proceeds go to charity. Last year the 8th graders voted to use the profits in order to pay school tuition for a political refugee living at Mercy House.  The students are currently discussing the destination for this year’s funds. We shall let you know of their decision. The 8th graders thank you for your support and hope to see all of you at the carnival.

News From our PA

Three cheers for our Elementary School Room Parents!  Room parents play an important role in connecting us adults and enriching our school community and at the end of the year it is high time we thank them! This week, our PA Room Parent Coordinator, Joana Forte, hosted a breakfast to show our appreciation for all these wonderful parents have done.
