Dear Pretoria Campus Parents,
Celebrations add fun and excitement to life. School celebrations are organized for us to come together and relax and unwind. School events provide an opportunity to get to know one another better and contribute to our sense of community. Celebrations are valuable to children and some become tradition that help shape our school culture.
The tradition of International Day is one of the biggest celebrations of the year. This year International Day is October 12, 2018. International Day is held on the JHB campus and will include a parade of nations and a diverse food festival where parents provide food from around the world. If you have not heard from your country or regional ambassadors from the JHB campus or if you would like to be associated with a different country than the country your children will participate in, please let Mindy Rich know as soon as possible email@example.com. Mindy will connect you with your ambassador for this wonderful AISJ celebration.
Elementary School Open House
Our elementary school open house will begin at 6 PM in the Lapa on Wednesday, August 29.
AISJ Pretoria campus assemblies are a school-wide community celebration for our students. Assemblies will be organized in advance and led by students with teachers serving as advisors. Wednesday, September 5 is our next school assembly and will be elementary students only as middle school students will be enjoying their classroom without walls celebration. Please join us in the Lapa at 1:00 PM.
Parents’ Night Out
September 5th is Parents’ Night Out. Our Parent Association is reminding parents and staff to book your babysitter. We look forward to this informal event that is a casual night out with friends old and new at Capital Craft in Menlo Park starting at 6 PM.
Family Movie Night
September 14th is Movie Night on the Pretoria campus. This will be our first school-wide PA event of the year. There is a free showing of “Peter Rabbit”. Bring your chairs and blankets and enjoy the evening with family and friends. Food will be available for sale. Doors open at 6:30 PM. Please remember no alcohol is permitted.
If you would like to help plan our Boo in the Boot celebration that will be held on Friday, October 26 please contact Eve Fitzgerald: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Celebrations will continue throughout our school year while our students keep learning and growing.
This week Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) testing will take place for grades 3-8. Please visit this website to learn more about this adaptive assessment: https://www.nwea.org/map-growth.

* Did you know that each grade has a parents’ WhatsApp group? If you would like to be added, please contact your room parent or email@example.com for ES grades and firstname.lastname@example.org for MS grades.
Have an enjoyable weekend.
