Elementary School Weekly Update 26 October 2018
Posted 26-10-2018 03:59PM

Dear Parents,

Thanks to all of you who were able to make it to our Grade 3 assembly yesterday. It certainly was a spectacular showcase of learning. We are back into the full swing of school and now looking ahead to Halloween celebrations in the Elementary School Wednesday.

Halloween Parade

Thanks in advance to our Parent Association, Room Parents, and parent volunteers for coming together to make this day special for our students. Below is a schedule for the day. Here is ALL you need to know about Halloween in the ES next week:

Parade/Trick or Treating

There will be a Parade/Trick or Treating from 9.00am – 10.00am. All parents are welcome to come along and enjoy the fun.

Following the parade, ALL grade levels will be scheduled a time to come to the library and help decorate/fill treat bags to give to the Operational Staff. Our Student Council will be presenting these bags to them during an induction session on the Wednesday afternoon.

 Costumes:

Please do not send toy weapons to school with your child, as they cause unnecessary behavior issues and are a health and safety concern.

  • Students are encouraged to wear costumes to school on Wednesday, October 31st.
  • There will be a prize for the best costume at each grade. Costumes will be judged by a selection of teachers, and announced during their scheduled grade level treat decorating time.

"This is Hillbrow" Tour

This guided 3km walk through Ponte City, Hillbrow and surrounding areas is one of a kind. You'll get the opportunity to explore the inner-city of Johannesburg through an entirely new lens. From the magnitude of Hillbrow tower and the raciness of Pretoria High street to the stupendous views of the infamous Ponte Tower "The big Vodacom building".

You'll get an opportunity to engage and understand the history of Johannesburg and the ultimate socio-economic impact apartheid and a young democracy had on these communities.

We'll end the experiences off by having some traditional cuisine where you'll meet wonderful people and engage in interesting conversation.

The tour lasts for 3 hours (plus traveling time), starting at AISJ at 8.45am and returning at approximately 2pm.
