Elementary School Weekly Update 7 December 2018
Posted 07-12-2018 03:47PM

Dear Parents,

Congratulations to our Grade 1 students who performed amazingly well at this morning's Grade 1 Music Share. Thanks to all those parents who came and cheered them on. With one week left before a well-deserved break, we are looking forward to the Grade 2 and Leavers Assembly next week.

Leaving Assembly

Next Thursday it is Grade 2's turn to showcase their learning through the assembly. During this time, we will also be saying farewell to all students who are leaving AISJ. At the end of the assembly, we will ask the leaving students to stand and sing them a farewell song. All parents are invited to our assemblies, but we particularly welcome those parents/families who are leaving as it is a nice way to gain closure in a transition to a new school and/or country.

 Report Cards

Kindergarten to Grade 5 Parent Letter

Pre-Kindergarten Parent Letter

Semester 1 report cards are released online through PowerSchool on Wednesday, December 12th. Parents will be able to access their child's report card by logging into PowerSchool and clicking on the 'Report Card' tab for each child. Please note the ES Office is not responsible for printing report cards.

For families that are leaving AISJ

The report cards will available to access on the designated release date for approximately two weeks. Parents are required to download their child's report cards within this window. Once the report card window has expired, leaving parents will need to request their report cards from the ES Office, and these will be emailed as a PDF document.

Report Card and Transcript Requests from Leaving Parents

AISJ recognizes that on occasion, parents will need certified copies of report cards or transcripts from their division when applying for schools or universities. In an effort to facilitate these requests, without placing an excessive burden on school personnel and resources, AISJ has developed the following protocol:

1.      FIVE DAYS (5) advance notice is required from families for report card/transcript printing. Requests should be submitted via email or in person through the respective divisional offices.

2.      Divisional offices will only print ONE complete set of report cards/transcripts for each year requested.

3.      If parents require multiple copies of report cards/transcripts, it is their responsibility to make copies off site.

4.      If an official AISJ stamp is required on the documents, parents will be expected to make the required amount of copies, deliver them to the school, at which time stamping will be completed by school personnel in the main reception of AISJ (stamping will not occur in the divisional offices).

5.      With the exception of the final report card, issued at the end of the school year, stamping of all documents will be completed within 10 working days. All other report cards/transcripts required must follow the process outlined in steps 1-4 above.

Withdrawal Process

A reminder that a student's withdrawal from AISJ is only official once we have received notification in writing to es-office@aisj-jhb.com. Once we receive this information the office will begin preparing a leaving package for your child.
