Dear Pretoria Campus Parents,
Please join us tonight or tomorrow night as AISJ students perform Hansel and Gretel. Our students transformed a 126 year old libretto (the text of an opera) to a new script. Acts 1 and 2 include beautiful classical music and Shakespeare like dialogue. In Act 3, the audience will be introduced to a different world of popular music and colorful themes.
From our Pretoria Parent Association:
Thank you to those who came out to our last PA meeting of the school year! New officers were elected for the 2019-2020 school year. It promises to be a fantastic year!

Mercy House for Refugees Clothing, Shoe and Bedding Donation Drive
As our year comes to a close we will be taking donations of gently used men's, women's and children's clothing and shoes as well as blankets and bedding to our partner, Mercy House for Refugees. Clothing and shoes may be placed in boxes in the PA Parent Room during the week of May 20-24 and will be delivered to Mercy House during the last week of school.
8th Grade - Service Learning Cardboard Carnival
The fourth annual 8th grade Cardboard Carnival will take on Wednesday, May 29, from 8:45- 11:15. As in year's past, the 8th graders will create and run carnival style games. This is the 8th graders culminating service learning project. Students from all of our grade levels are encouraged to attend and purchase tickets to play the games. If you win a game you receive a tasty treat. Any student who spends at least 50 Rand on tickets will be guaranteed at least one treat. All proceeds go to charity. Last year the 8th graders voted to use the profits in order to pay school tuition for a political refugee living at Mercy House.
The carnival will take place during school hours. As in past years, there will be a two hour window for classes to sign up to attend. Each class will be scheduled for 30 minutes at the carnival. Children can buy as many tickets as they want. In year's past each ticket cost 10 Rand and each game required 1 ticket. Students who win a game will get a small treat like, like a cupcake which is provided by 8th grade students and parents. We limit the amount of treats that anyone could get to three. If a child buys five tickets (50 Rand) and does not win any of the games, we will provide them with a cupcake so that they at least have one.
The 8th graders thank you for your support and hope to see all of you at the carnival
