Dear AISJ Community,
Happy New School Year! I am delighted to welcome our new and returning parents, students, faculty and staff to another exciting year.
The year has started off well, despite some visa issues impacting members of our faculty and community. We extend our compliments to our school director, Dr. Andy Page-Smith, and the entire AISJ faculty and staff, for their herculean efforts and dedication in ensuring a smooth start to the year. As a board we continue to monitor the situation and assist where appropriate.
The Board of Directors at AISJ is responsible for the strategic oversight of the school. Our key functions include:
- Ensuring long term sustainability
- Setting the mission, vision and core beliefs, strategic goals and measurable outcomes for the School
- Hiring, retention and annual evaluation of the School Director, thus ensuring a quality educational program
- Ensuring long term financial health approving tuition fees and the annual budget
The Board is enthusiastic and eager to build upon the successes of our previous years. However, it is with regret that the Board has accepted the resignations of Tracy Craven (Board chair) and Rosemary Simpson (Board secretary) just prior to the start of the school year. We thank them for their passion and efforts in furthering the goals and objectives of AISJ. We wish them well in their new endeavors.
We will kick off this year with a 2 day retreat this weekend, on the campus of AISJ, where we will elect a new executive board. We will review progress in implementing AISJ’s strategic goals and objectives, as we identify and establish priorities for the new year. In addition we will interact and collaborate with Dr. Andy Page-Smith and members of his leadership team.
We look forward to sharing with you the accomplishments of last year and our goals for 2014-15 at the Board Community Information Session on October 23rd. We appreciate your continued support and participation with the Board.
Acting Board Chair
