DESING TECHNOLOGY
Philosophy
Well-designed practical activities in the Design Technology area offers young people the opportunity to develop and improve higher-order thinking skills, such as problem solving, critical thinking, and creativity. The subject promotes professional models for working, collaborating, and decision making and encourages the development of sound organization skills while exploring a range of materials, construction and evaluation models.

Standard 1: Creativity and Innovation
Learners demonstrate creative thinking, construct knowledge, research and develop innovative products and processes using technology
Standard 2: Communication and Collaboration and Citizenship
Learners communicate and work collaboratively, to support individual learning and contribute to the learning of others while practicing safe/ethical behaviors
Standard 3: Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, and Decision Making
Learners use critical thinking skills to plan and conduct research, manage projects, solve problems, and make informed decisions using appropriate tools and resources
Standard 4: Technology Operations, Concepts, and Skill Fluency
Learners demonstrate a sound understanding of technology concepts, systems, and operations.

Philosophy
The application of the Technology standards encourages and supports the design, implementation and assessment of learning experiences to engage students and to improve learning. AISJ students use technology to analyse, learn, and explore. Digital age skills prepare students to work, live and contribute to the social and civic fabric of their communities evaluating the skills and knowledge needed to live effectively and productively in an increasingly technological world.
